In a well-ventilated space, cover a flat surface with a drop cloth or tarp.
Step 2
Before starting the project, read the Krylon labels for safety, application, and dry time instructions.
Step 3
Remove all handles and hardware from your cabinets with a screwdriver and set aside. If you cannot remove them, cover with painter’s tape to protect from overspray and to preserve their finish.
Step 4
For the best adhesion, sand the surface of the cabinets in any rough spots. Wipe them clean with a rag to remove any dust or debris. Ensure that the surface is clean, dull, and dry before applying spray paint.
Step 5
Spray paint the surface of your cabinets with Krylon Chalkboard Paint in Black.
Step 6
Re-apply before 1 hour or after 3 days. For best results, apply 2 – 3 coats waiting a few minutes between each one.
Step 7
If you used painter’s tape to protect the cabinet hardware, remove when the spray paint is dry to the touch. Otherwise, use a screwdriver to reattach the hardware when the spray paint is completely dry.
Step 8
Allow 3 hours to dry before handling, and 24 hours before first use.
Step 9
After allowing the Chalkboard Paint to dry for 24 hours, rub the surface of the cabinets with the side of a piece of chalk and then erase it before writing on the surface.
Step 10
Hang the cabinets in your kitchen and use your new chalkboard space however you choose. Meal prep, schedule planning – the options are endless!
