Paint the door separately before attaching it to the rest of the library.
Step 1
In a well-ventilated space, cover a flat surface with a drop cloth or tarp.
Step 2
Before starting, read the Krylon labels for safety, application, and dry time instructions.
Step 3
Cut all your wood to the appropriate dimensions.
Step 4
Using wood glue, clamps, and nails, assemble your little library structure.
Step 5
Next, begin building your door by cutting down your acrylic for the window and glue into place.
Step 6
Attach handle to the door.
Step 7
Before painting ensure that all the joints of the structure are sealed so no moisture can get in using a weather sealant caulk.
Step 8
Sand down the wooden surface to ensure it is smooth.
Step 9
Use a tack cloth to remove any dust or debris.
Step 10
Paint the wide flat surfaces with Krylon Chalky Finish Tintable using a Purdy paint roller, and a Purdy paint brush for corners and trim.
Step 11
Tape off areas of the door that you do not which to paint, applying even coats to the uncovered areas, spraying in a side-to-side motion with COLORmaxx Gloss Dover White.
Step 12
Attach the door to the rest of the little library structure. (Do not remove tape from acrylic window).
Step 13
Apply an even coat of COLORmaxx Gloss Crystal Clear. Once dry apply a second coat. (Please check the back of the product label for appropriate dry time).
When the second coat has finished drying remove tape.
Step 14
Fill your new little library with a variety of books to share with everyone!
