In a well-ventilated space, cover a flat surface with a drop cloth or tarp.

Before starting, read the Krylon® labels for safety, application, and dry time instructions.

If paint or rust is flaking off the surface of the file cabinet, use a wire brush or sandpaper to remove it. Wipe down the surface to remove any debris.
Step 4
Using painter's tape, cover the drawer handles to protect their shiny silver finish from overspray.
Step 5
Remove the drawers to paint them separately from the file cabinet.
Step 6
Spray paint the drawers and cabinet using Krylon® Shimmer Metallic in Candy Grape.
Step 7
Remove painter's tape from drawer handles when the file cabinet is dry to touch to avoid chipping or peeling.
Step 8
Allow the file cabinet and drawers to fully dry.
Step 9
Once cabinet and drawers are fully dry, put the drawers back into the cabinet.
