By now, summer is officially over. The kids are back in school and temperatures are beginning to drop. This only means one thing – Halloween is right around the corner! I love decorating the outside of the house for Halloween. It’s a wonderful feeling seeing the kids walk up to ring your doorbell and get distracted by the décor outside. The economy has many of us brainstorming ideas for decorations that make the house look extra Boo-licious while keeping it low-budget. What could be more fitting than turning your yard into a graveyard? That’s right, a graveyard!

Every graveyard needs tombstones—but I have no place to store them afterwards and I don’t want them to be expensive.  “Where to get tombstones at a low cost? Why not make them?”  We had cleaned out the supply closet in our studio and had quite a few used Fed-X that were now sitting in our recycle area.  I realized that this would be a great way to recycle these boxes and get tombstones for the graveyard! In addition to boxes I had old bed sheets that I was going to get rid of. Instead, I decided to keep the sheets to use as ghosts in my graveyard! If you have trees around your house like I do, you can use fishing wire and create flying ghosts! If you don’t have a tree, no worries, any pole or stake can hold up a weightless ghost!

So spookify your yard in a low cost way and then just throw the boxes away when you are done if you don’t have place to store them! Don’t forget the candy once the kids make it to your door!
